A defibrillator is available at the service desk, which was donated by the Clausthal support association "Mensch zu Mensch - wohnortnahe Gesundheitshilfe". The device can be operated by any medical layperson and provides the attending physician with valuable information later on by continuously recording an ECG.
Two electrodes are attached to the patient's body, with which the defibrillator monitors the function of the cardiovascular system (ECG), detects life-threatening cardiovascular disorders and decides whether an electric shock is necessary; the subsequent resuscitation is supported by instructions.
Further devices with the locations of defibrillators on the TU Clausthal campus can be found on this map.
Please note: Despite using the defibrillator, the emergency services must always be alerted by calling 112.
