The Clausthal University Archive is a public archive as defined by the Lower Saxony Archive Act (PDF). Organizationally, the archive is a department of the Clausthal University Library. The user regulations for the Lower Saxony State Archives apply. (It is not possible to borrow archive materials.)
On-site research in the reading room is generally possible during the opening hours of the University Library. Please contact Teresa Haars by e-mail or telephone to arrange an appointment. Due to the staffing situation, access is currently only possible in the mornings.
We are connected to the Arcinsys archive information system, which you can use to search online in the archive records already listed and also submit an application for use. Please register your visit by e-mail. The archives can be used in the reading room of the University Library.
Older photos have already been digitized and can be researched in the joint image database with the Oberharzer Bergwerksmuseum Zellerfeld. The digital copies were created thanks to the commitment of Prof. Dr. em. Georg Müller, Chancellor Dr. Kickartz, Prof. Dr. Friedrich H. Balck and their colleagues, to whom we would like to express our sincere thanks.
