Diamond Open Access

Diamond Open Access (also Gold Open Access without APC) is a term for journals that do not charge researchers for access to articles or for the publication of articles. KOALA - acronym for Konsortiale Open-Access-Lösungen aufbauen establishes consortial solutions for financing open access. The joint financing of open access journals and book series by academic libraries, research institutions, associations and companies represents an alternative to the dominant APC model, in which articles are paid for individually by authors or their institutions.

Open Library Economics (OLEcon) supports journals in academic sponsorship that want to convert their business model to Diamond Open Access in the long term.

This consortium is supported by the ZBW (Leibniz Information Center for Economics). The ZBW supports the funded journals in setting up sustainable alternative financing and offers advice on the entire conversion process.
