Clausthal University of Technology has concluded DEAL contracts with the publishers Springer, Wiley and Elsevier.
If you would like to find out more about the contract negotiations and take a look at the contracts, you can find more information on this page.
What do you have to do if you want to publish with one of the publishers?
- You must be the corresponding author of the article and submit your article directly to the journal.
- By participating in DEAL, your article will be published in Open Access after acceptance and corresponding confirmation on your part.
- The costs for the first two Open Access publications per year are shared equally between the University Library and the publishing institute.
- ATTENTION: The same costs are incurred for closed access publications, which are also shared equally between the University Library and the publishing institute.
- From the 3rd Open Access publication onwards, the costs must be borne in full by the institute.
- Costs in pure Open Access journals are fully covered by the University Library up to 2000 euros (only applies to the first two Open Access publications per year).
- In addition to publication in the respective journal, the Open Access article will also be available on our publication server.

We recommend our authors to publish exclusively under CC BY licenses. CC BY is currently the only license type where the author does not transfer exclusive rights to the publisher. Therefore, the Elsevier contract is designed in such a way that authors should be guided to choose this CC BY license if possible. In this way, authors choose the license under which they retain their copyright usage rights and no exclusive rights are transferred to the publisher.
